ESL Institute (2-Day Supplemental (154) TExES Preparation Course)

This two-day comprehensive workshop prepares participants for the 154 English as a Second Language Supplemental (ESL) exam. The workshop provides deep dives into the domains and components tested such as history, law, second language acquisition theory, cultural proficiency, and other areas required for certification.

Sheltered Instruction Academy Series

This series provides workshops on the eight components of Sheltered Instruction with a focus on simple hands-on techniques that create comprehensible input for ELs. Participants will also examine lesson design, scaffolding, and instructional best practices that serve all ELs. Workshops are available for elementary, secondary, and for distance learning classrooms.

Making TELPAS-ELPS Connections

This workshop highlights how TELPAS scores connect with the ELPS to assist teachers in identifying appropriate linguistic accommodations for English Learners. There is an introduction to the ELPS, cross-curricular learning, and second language acquisition. Participants will engage in hands aligned practices that support EL proficiency.

ELPS LIAG – Linguistic Instructional Alignment Guide

In this workshop, participants will examine how to plot TELPAS scores and identify student language proficiencies using the LIAG. This workshop shows teachers how to use the LIAG throughout the instructional school year in order to guide lesson planning, linguistic accommodation selections, and best practices through monitoring and adjustment for proficiency growth.
